Biographical Sketch - Dr. Molly M. Gribb

GribbDr. Gribb has a B.S. in Environment, Textiles, and Design from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is a licensed professional engineer in Idaho. Dr. Gribb joined Boise State in 2000, after seven years at the University of South Carolina, where she was an Associate Professor teaching and doing research related to groundwater, contaminant transport, and unsaturated soils. Dr. Gribb is a Professor of Civil Engineering at Boise State, and this year began leading a multidisciplinary research project sponsored by the EPA to develop multi-purpose sensors to detect and analyze environmental contaminants. In addition to managing this project, her research group is designing and fabricating housing and subsurface delivery systems for a miniature ion mobility spectrometer to be used for measuring gaseous volatile organic compounds in unsaturated soils. Dr. Gribb has taught introduction to Civil Engineering, hazardous waste engineering, groundwater contaminant transport, hydrogeology, vadose zone hydrology, and research methods courses while at Boise State.

One of her major research interests is the development of a new cone penetrometer tool for determining the hydraulic properties of unsaturated soils, for which she has received a NSF CAREER award, and an ARO young investigator award while at South Carolina. Dr. Gribb also received DURIP and NSF Idaho-EPSCoR equipment grants to obtain a truck-mounted direct push system and the associated tooling to further this research at Boise State University. She is currently on the Boise State team of researchers on the recently awarded University of Idaho NSF EPSCoR research infrastructure enhancement grant that involves investigating the role of spatial and temporal variability of soil hydraulic properties on flow and transport in the Dry Creek Watershed.
