Biographical Sketch - Dr. Jagath J. Kaluarachchi
Dr.
Jagath Kaluarachchi is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental
Engineering and Utah Water Research Laboratory of Utah State University for the
past 15+ years. He is also the Head of the Water Engineering Program. During
this period, his research interests have been groundwater hydrology; analysis
and modeling of subsurface contamination due to organic liquids, heavy metals,
and agricultural pollutants; analysis of remedial technologies; risk assessment
and decision analysis; stochastic subsurface hydrology; aquifer vulnerability
assessment; and water resources analysis and management at the basin scale. He
has published over 55 manuscripts in reputed scientific journals plus more than
50 numerous conference proceedings, participated in scientific presentations,
gave invited seminars and short courses in the US and elsewhere. He is an active
member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Environmental and Water
Resources Institute (EWRI) and has served in many technical committees as the
Chair. He is currently the vice chair of the Watershed Council of the EWRI. He
has been an invited speaker in many internal institutions in Europe, Asia, and
Middle East and has delivered many short courses on the subject of Multiphase
Flow and Remediation in the US and in Europe. Dr. Kaluarachchi is a key
participant of INRA activities in the USU, was a member of the curriculum
committee of the SSGP, and currently an instructor of the SSGP core course.
