Biographical Sketch - Dr. Daniel G. Strawn
EDUCATION
Ph.D., 1999, Plant and Soil Sciences. University of Delaware. Dissertation
Topic: Kinetics and Mechanisms of Pb Sorption and Desorption on Soils and Soil
Materials. Advisor: D.L. Sparks.
B.S., 1994, Soil and Water Science. University of California, Davis.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
I conduct research on contaminant and nutrient interactions in the soil and
environment, teach two environmental soil chemistry courses (senior and graduate
level), a sub-surface geochemistry course for the Inland Northwest Research
Alliance (INRA), and team teach soil mineralogy. Research in the Soil Chemistry
program is focused on gaining a better understanding of reaction processes in
the environment. To accomplish this students are directed on research projects
that employ cutting- edge techniques and experiments to gain new insights into
contaminant speciation, reaction pathways, and mineralogy in soils. Below are 5
most recent publications that describe my research projects.
