Events and Announcements (2004 - 2005)
 

Icebreaker/Orientation in Boise

calendar
Date: August 26-29, 2004
Location: Boise, Idaho
Participants: This event is required for all students attending the 2004-05 SSGP core sequence. All core sequence faculty will be in attendance.
Arrival: Students are responsible for arranging their own travel and lodging and should arrive in Boise on 26 August 2004. If arriving on 27 August 2004, students must arrive in time to attend the opening session (see below).
Suggested Lodging: Courtyard by Marriott (208-331-2700), Residence Inn by Marriott (208-344-1200), or the Red Lion Parkcenter Suites (208-342-1044). The Marriott locations are within walking distance of the Boise State campus but the Red Lion is about 1 mile distant so that a rental car may be advisable. See the location of the hotels on the map.
Meals: Students are responsible for their own meals except that lunch is provided on the field trip and a barbecue is planned for after the field trip. A list of Boise area restaurants can be viewed at http://www.boiseweekly.com/dining.php. Of course, travel to some of these restaurants will require a rental car.
Departure: Students should plan to depart any time on Sunday, 29 August 2004.

Opening Session: Friday, 27 August 2004; starts at 1 PM on the Boise State campus (in Micron Engineering Center room 103 - see the BSU campus map).
Geology Field Trip: Saturday, 28 August 2004, 8 AM - 4 PM; vans will meet field trip participants in Science Drive Circle near the Mathematics-Geology building on the Boise State campus at 7:30 AM for departure no later than 8 AM; lunches will be provided to all participants; vans will return to Science Drive Circle by 4 PM.
Barbecue: Saturday, 28 August 2004, 5:30-9 PM at the Ram/Stone House (709 E. Park Blvd) which is just NE of campus on the Boise River (see the location on the map); food will be provided; please contact Sara Wheeler (swheeler@boisestate.edu) ASAP if you want a vegetarian meal.
Travel Funds: Students should contact their graduate dean for travel funds to the Icebreaker/Orientation.
